Long Island Elite Donation Provides Art Therapy Room in New Facility Assisting Families Facing Tragedy
The Long Island Elite (LIE) recently joined with elected officials, community members, administration from Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital and other stakeholders in support of its 2020 – 2021 Charity Partner of the Year, SIBSPlace, and their new 5,100 square foot facility in Rockville Centre. Through its largest philanthropic efforts to date, the LIE provided $200,000 for the development of the Long Island Elite Art Therapy Room.
“This room will provide families facing traumatic illness, cancer diagnosis and bereavement with an outlet through the magic of art therapy,” said LIE President Frank Morizio, Jr. “It allows children of all ages a place to support their overall mental health and well-being. The Long Island Elite and its family of supporters are proud to see the hard work and effort of many, flourish in the opening of this new building and room.”
SIBSPlace, an affiliate of Mount Sinai South Nassau, provides a support network to help foster resiliency and to aid vulnerable children, especially during times of crisis. With increased mental health needs identified in children and lack of accessible and affordable resources, families are turning to SIBSPlace now more than ever, to help them regain their sense of balance as each member navigates the emotional and life-changing impact of a loved ones’ illness or death. SIBSPlace provides families with free prevention-based services they so desperately need.
